adios amigos !

Today we arrived at our final destination of the trip : Tanzania .

We are all getting very tired from the trip so we decided to recover by the beach for a few days and just enjoy the sun and a good cocktail . When i talk about Tanzania lots of you might think it is a very desert-like country , at leas that's what i thought . But Tanzania is a very beautiful place ! We arrived at the airport in the capital of the country , Zanzibar.

This city has the most beautiful beaches with white sand and clear blue water. I think i might go diving or snorkling later on ! Always wanted to do that in my life !

We don't really have plans for our last stay here in Tanzania . I think we're just going to see what we feel like doing . It might be we stay by the beach a whole week !

Next tuesday it's time to pack our bags and head back to belgium ! We are flying to Morocco first and afterwards we can take a plan that heads to Belgium . It has been an amazing trip so far . We've seen so many unforgettable things and had such a good time together . It was really amazing ! But i'll be happy to be home again . To see my family and friends again , and to enjoy some belgian beer and some chips !

over and out !

Let's go swimming in the water

Hello everybody and welcome back to our blog !

With only one week and a half to go , our so far magical trip is unfortunately almost coming to it's end .
We have already seen so many things you never hear or see of , things i will never forget !

The boattrip we made yesterday was really nice too ! No worries , just enjoying the good things in life . And some fresh fish , not the junk we get offered in the stores .

With only 2 more days to go in Congo we decided to enjoy some more of the good weather and the beautiful surroundings this country has to offer.
A local at the hotel told us that we should really visit the Zongo Falls , so this is where we are heading to later on . With a 5 hours drive ahead we will arrive there around 10 , which gives us just enough time to set up our tent , enjoy a nice barbecue and get ready for a visit to the falls tomorrow .
We're not quite sure yet if we are going to sleep in tents or not . We were told that there was a nice lodge called the ' seli safari ' , which is positioned right next to the falls . We should be able to hear the water coming down from our rooms ! A hotel bed will definitely be a lot more comfortable , and will prevent me from having to scratch my back the whole day thanks to the mosquitos .

I can't wait untill it is tomorrow : i just feel like waking up , putting on my swimmingpants and going straight to the falls for a refreshing dip . Hopefully the water isn't to cold !

See you later guys !

A boat trip in the Democratic Republic of the Congo!

Hello Everybody!

After our adventures in the Central African Republic, we took the jeep and drove until we reached the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is a Francophone country. Because it is such a big country, it became difficult to decide where we would go. After discussing a bit, we decided to go to Kinshasa, the capital. Because it is almost the end of our trip, we went to the Grand Hotel Kinshasa. It is a 5 Star hotel in the center of Kinshasa.
In the hotel, we had a beautiful view over the river Congo.

After we had unpacked, we went to the Yacht Club Kinshasa. There, we rented a boat with a driver for the rest of the day and this only for 150$! On the boat, there were tables, chairs, a suntent and also a barbecue. It is obvious that this became a great and relaxing afternoon.
In the evening we barbecued on bord with the fishes we had caught in the afternoon. It was very delicous and above all, it was an unforgettable experience.

After our boat trip, we went to some bars, first we went to ‘the Standing’. This is a small western-style bar and disco. It was very nice but there was not that much people. So after ‘the Standing’, we went to the ‘VIP Bar’. It is also a western-style disco but larger. There was also a mirror and a disco-ball on the ceiling, it was a really nice place where we had some drinks of the local beer ‘Turbo King’. Around midnight, we ended up in our bedrooms and fell asleep.

Greetings!!!

The Central African Republic, what's going on?

Hi everybody!

After some days of fun, it was time to develop something more about the economy, the education and the health of the Central African Republic.
First of all, in the Central African Republic, they dispense the CFA franc, which is accepted in six states in central Africa namely Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. One euro has here the same value as 676,13 CFA franc.
In the Central African Republic, the annual real GDP growth rate is 3%. Their import partners are South Korea, which is good for 45.8%, after South Korea comes the Netherlands, France and Cameroon. Remarkable are their export partners because their largest export partner is Belgium, with 30.4%, followed by China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, France, Indonesia and Marocco.
The income per capita per year is around the $300 which is very low when you compare it with the income in Europe. We learned that their income is one of the lowest in the world.
It became obvious that because of this income, the education is not that good and the health is very bad.
In 2012, the life expectancy was 50 years old. This is very low because in Europe the life expectancy is around 80 years old. Another notable figure is the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate is about 4.7% of the adult population. But, this is not the only illness, there are a lot of diseases in the Central African Republic such as malaria, tuberculosis, ...; way too many to mention them all.
Now, when we know all the problems here, it is clear that sometimes, we make us too busy for nothing. So it is obvious that we have to be lucky that we did not born here.

Greetings from the Central African Republic!

picture time

Hello everybody !

Here i am with the pictures i took at the safari .

We really had an amazing time . We arrived at site and were welcomed warmly by Steve and his staff .  Before we could leave we had to put on our gear  and fill our backpacks with water.  It was extremely hot that day so the 4 liters of water we were carrying each wasn't that much . We were very lucky that day since we saw a lot of animals.

After  a 2 hours drive we arrived at a river . We already noticed from a few minutes away that something special was going on over there since there was a lot of noise and a lot of dust in the air . Once arrived we could finally see what this dust and noise was coming from. There was a massive herd of wildebeest crossing the river . From left to right , all we could see was wildebeest. According to our guide there were around 1 million of them . They didn't all make it to the other side of the river tough , crocodiles were hiding in the water waiting for some food to come by. And i wanted some wilderbeest meat too . After the guides chose out an animal i could shoot it was time to take in our positions and get ready to fire . Once they gave me green light to shoot , i went for it.  What a rush .

From the river we drove towards a more bushy area fom where on we had to continue by foot .This isnt a pleasure at 40 degrees Celsius i can tell you that.
The area was full of life : colourful birds , monkeys , huge spiders , lizards , .. we saw it all . I'm going to let the images do the talking .

bye !

Falls of Baoli

Hello guys,

When we wake up, we need to consider which clothes we’re going to wear, because we’re April and as we all know, it could be hot.
File:Republique Centrafricaine - Boali - Chutes de Boali.jpg
But at the same time, we need to take in mind that the Harmattan could be present. The Harmattan is dry and dusty West African trade wind. We’re lucky because the Harmattan doesn’t block the sun, so we’re able to enjoy the sunshine. After our breakfast, we’re taking the highway towards Baoli.

After our first 2 days in the Central African Republic, we decided to see some nature. We’re going to Baoli which is situated 100 km of the national capital, Bangui. Why are we visiting Baoli? Well, because it’s well-known for his waterfalls and for his hydroelectric works. We need to make sure that we’re putting on our hiking boots and we leave our sandals in our luggage.

Once we see the waterfalls, we’re amazed about the view. It’s incredible! Although it’s a lot of noise because you hear the water falling, but we’re still open-eyed when we see the waterfalls.

After a day full of hiking, we’re not surprised we’re hungry. That’s why we’re visiting Tropicana. We found this restaurant by searching on the internet, because it was recommended. The cuisines are French, Pizza and international, so it’s perfect for students like us. We’ve all taken a large piece of Pizza because we’re familiar with this food. Later on, we’re too tired to do something outside so we decided to stay in and go to bed on time.

Greetings from the national hotel in Bangui!

In to the bush !

Hi everybody and welcome back to our blog !

So yesterday we entered the Central African Republic , the heart of Africa ! Time to put on our shorts and sandals and enjoy the beauty this country has to offer .

We're heading to the remote area's in the east of the CAR where we will go on a jeepsafari . The domain we're going to is property of Erik Mararv and his wife . Together with their staff they run their safari company called ' Central African Wildlife Adventures ' .  5 different camps have been put up on different locations along the terrain which stretches over two million hectares of land ,  covered with wildlife and wilderness . Let's hope we don't get lost .

We won't just be driving around in a jeep and taking pictures . The activities Erik and his crew offer are a bit more adventurous , and include guns . Yes people ,we are going hunting ! I hope i shoot myself a buffalo , can't taste bad right ? I have been told there is a wide range of animals out there : buffalo's , deer , hogs , bucks , baboons but also lions and leopards . Shall be fun , really can't wait !

I will make some pictures of the wildlife and upload them later on . Fingers crossed we get back in one piece !

Warm greetings from the team .

A shocking welcome!

Dear followers!

After our experiences in Libya, we needed to cross Chad to get to the
Central African Republic. Because of the tropical climate, we decided to reach our destination by jeep, which was much more fun than travelling by plane!

When we arrived at our hotel ‘the national hotel’, located in the capital Bangui, we needed to ask all our information in French. The Central African Republic used to be a colony of France, that’s why they still use French as one of their main languages.

The hotel wasn’t luxurious at all, we’ve made the best of it, but the whole hotel can definitely use some renovations! There weren’t any towel racks, we couldn’t get clean towels, the air-conditioning didn’t work and the ventilation in the bathroom was also broke. Despite of the bad experiences with the hotel, we continued our trip, because we didn’t want to screw up our trip because of that.

For the first day here in the Central African Republic, we decided to discover Bangui. The capital rests beside the River Ubangi. On the bank of the river, we had a nice picnic in the sun. By walking through the city, we discovered the university of Bangui and the international university, which are the two institutions of higher education in the Central African Republic. We found out that the country is one of the world’s least developed countries, that’s why half of the adult population are illiterate, despite the free and compulsory public education from ages 6 to 14.

In the evening we haven’t done a lot of activities, because we were a bit afraid. We stayed in our hotel rooms and we played some old-school games, which was really very amusing!

See you next time! Greetings, Taika De Volder.

The Red Castle!

Hi followers!
The Red Castle

Today, we wanted to see more beautiful places. The first thing we visited was The Assaraya al-Hamra, or the Red Castle.
This is a huge palace complex with multiple courtyards. This castle is located in the heart of Tripoli. In the castle, there are some statues and fountains that have been preserved from the past. Untill now, this is the best thing we have seen in this country.

The Jamahiriya Museum
While we were there, we also visited the Jamahiriya Museum, which is also known as the Red Castle Museum or Assaraya Alhamara Museum. It is the national museum of Libya and it is one of Tripoli’s most popular tourist attraction because as tourist, we learned here more about the history of the country. This is a vast museum with different floors.
On all these floors we could see several things such as the conversion from Romans through Christianity, Islamic ethnicity, daily chores and scenes of the Turkish kitchen, the Libyan chronology, … and there is also a wing dedicated to Libya’s fight for independence.
We can say that this museum is an example of the spontaneous beauty.

After our visit, we went to our hotel to relax a little bit because it was already a tiring holiday.
Now, I have to go because we will look for something to eat.
But keep following us!

Tazirbu it is!

Hello!
Because of the danger in some cities like Benghazi, we are going to take it easy the next days and we will visit some safe places. Today we have visited Tazirbu, a city in the southern part of Libya. In contrast with Belgium, the weather is fantastic! Today it was 32 degrees and tomorrow we’re expecting 33 degrees. Great temperatures when you have nothing to do, but when you have to travel around, it’s really very hot!
Tazirbu is actually an oasis located in the Libyan Desert. The oasis is approximately 25 – 30 km long and 10 km wide. In the middle of the oasis runs a shallow valley with salt ponds. We discovered about ten villages when we crossed the oasis by motorbike.
Halfway the afternoon, we decided to go back to the capital, Tripoli. There we could find something to eat and search something to do in the evening. We picked out a restaurant where we could eat some local receipts. As appetizer, we ordered taboulé. Taboulé is a salad with bulgur, a grain product, tomatoes, parsley and onions. As main course, we decided to take hummus, a purée with chickpeas and olive oil. It was good, but it is certainly not my favourite kind of food.
Completely satisfied, we started to search a nice café or bar to talk about our day. Libya doesn’t have many facilities to do in the evening, but after a while, we found a local café. We spend our evening talking about our day. I wonder what we’ll do tomorrow and if you want to know it too, you have to keep on following us! ;-)
Sunny greetings,

Not a nice view

Hi everybody !

We're finally in Libya , what a long way to go ! Really happy we were out of the airport and finally had some fresh air . All this travelling is getting to me .

Yesterday we visited the Benghazi Zoo which was really nice to see . We we're all suprised that the zoo was still there and the animals all still lived . Whilst driving to the zoo we did see some other things . Whole city quarters whiped away . Blown up cars , houses riddled with bullets , people just straying around and looking for food and water . You could really see the pain and the despair in their eyes. Whilst feeling a lot of compassion for these people , I didn't feel that comfortable myself at all. We knew that the authorities advised western tourists not to visit Bengazi since they were not safe there . You could really feel the tension in the air .

Here are some pictures i took yesterday .

We decided to get out of here and leave Benghazi for what is was . We are now heading to the more calm southern region of Libya . Hopefully see you when we get there !

Benghazi Zoo

Hello everybody,
After Greece we’re ready to take our bags and go to Libya. Therefore we need to take the plain. Our departure is in Athene at 5 p.m. but we need to transfer in Caïro. Normally the trip wouldn’t take that long but we need to wait several hours in Caïro to take the plain towards Tripoli. That’s why we eventually arrive in Tripoli the next day.
File:Benghazi Tourist Park (Benghazi Zoo).JPGThe first city we’re going to visit in Libya is Benghazi. It’s the second largest city of Libya, next to Tripoli. We’re going to visit the Benghazi Zoo. It’s a combination of a zoo full with trees and a theme park.

It’s a pleasant alternation because you can see a lot of different animals but in the meantime you have also some electric rides in the park. You can see the goats, the elephants, lions, and so on. We’re amazed when we see the elephants because they’re so huge!

After the park we visit for our first time during our trip around the world a McDonalds. It isn’t local food but it’s nice to have some food you’re familiar with. It’s also handy because McDonalds isn’t expensive and that’s just what we need on our trip around the world.

If you’re curious about what my other travelers will say, you need to stay in touch with our blog and keep on reading it!

The Underwater World Of Greece!

Γεια σου οπαδοί
(Hi followers)

After some wonderful days with a lot of fun. Today it was time to visit an Historic place, The Olympia, a place that is known from the ancient Olympic Games. While visiting this place, it became obvious that this is one of the most well-known destinations in Greece. It was still so early but it was already full with tourists there.
Overwhelmed by the other tourists, we walked through the ruins of the area. It was impressive!
Yet I must tell that it wasn’t as spectacular as we thought because the site is a little bit destroyed by several earthquakes and the time that passed by. But it was still breath-taking!
Another notable building that we went to see today was the Temple of Zeus.
It was really great to see, but the weather was way too hot.
Therefore we decided to go scuba diving because we already heard a lot of positive comments on it. We certainly have to say the money was worth it: The water was clear and we could explore the underwater world of Greece. We never thought it could be so beautiful under the water. The places we have seen there were spectacular.
Now we understand why scuba diving is so popular in Greece: It prints beautiful images in your memory, which you will never forget.
After the scuba diving we were all tired. We decided to order a pizza and went directly sleeping.

The coastal road of Greece.

Hello followers!
Fully equipped from yesterday, we were ready for a new day in Greece! It’s really very relaxing to stay a couple of days in a hot area like here! The temperature fluctuates between 20 and 30 degrees. Finally we could leave all our warm clothes and jackets in the hotel!

We decided to take the tram, which rides along the coastal road. It’s an easy way to cross the city. Because of the high temperatures, stopping at organized and non-organized beaches nearest the city, is the most popular reason of transport with all those people who want to enjoy a swim without having to worry about driving. We decided to go swimming in the sea. Afterwards, we stopped for a coffee at Trocadero.

In the afternoon, we wanted to visit some culture. We explored the most picturesque, romantic and nostalgic neighbourhood, Anafiótika, which is situated under the north section of the Acropolis. The place is distinguished by white-washed houses with blue doors, stone walls and small gardens. I loved this place of its special charisma and cosy houses. We took some beautiful pictures of our visits to make it easier for you to imagine the country.

On our way back, we found a café-restaurant where we could have a snack. We ordered two spaghettis, a salad with salmon and a macaroni dish. Afterwards, we had some drinks in the bar of our hotel before we went to bed.
Greetings, Taika De Volder.

Let's go visit the fishes!

Hellow followers,

Our next stop is in Corfu. It’s known for his bays and therefore we’ll go snorkeling. It’s 20 degrees, a little bit cold for snorkeling, but it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and that’s why we decide to do it. We go to our rooms, change our clothes into swimming suits and go to the beach. On the beach we get a diving goggles and a snorkel. It’s for everybody the first time and that’s why we’re so excited!

2 hours later, we finished our snorkeling. It was exhausting but in the same time amazing. It was definitely worth doing it. After the snorkeling, we go to the Pandokrator. It’s the highest mountain on the island of Corfu. Here you can see the entire island. When you finally reach the top, you have a pub where you can have a drink. So we did.

Now, you can imagine everybody is hungry and therefore we go back to our hotel. Our hotel is called “Hotel Park”.  The picture you’re looking at is one from the pool. I can imagine you’re jealous when you see the picture, because it looks like paradise!

After our meal, we unpack our luggage in our rooms and we end our day by watching the sunset on the beach. It’s a perfect closure for our fantastic day in Corfu. We hope you enjoy reading our blogs and you keep continuing.

Greetings,

How to grow fat in greece !

γειά σου !

Welcome back and sunny greetings from Greece !

What an outstanding weather it is over here . Feels so good  just walking around and enjoying the sun on your face .

Yesterday afternoon we were all a bit hungry and thirsty so we started looking for something to eat and drink. We found ourselves a table on this cozy restaurant terrace where we were greeted by this very friendly greek guy.

There were a whole lot of tasty-looking things on the menu , which made it quite hard for us to choose. But if there's one thing you have got to eat when you go to Greece than it's the ' meze '.  This is not a single dish , but more like a traditional menu . When you order a meze you got around 10 plates of food from which everybody can eat . It is not really ment as a meal  , but more as a snack whilst drinking a traditional drink like ouzo or raki and having a talk with friends. This does not mean you will leave the table with a empty stomach . We got all kinds of dishes like bread with tzatziki ,  rice stuffed wine leaves called dolma , calamari , tasty meatballs , fresh fish ... Really too much to sum up , but i can tell you one thing : it was delicious !
The greek food is so honest and simple , but still so finger-licking good !

After finishing the plates of food we were all to lazy to get up. It felt like we had eaten for 2 days non stop . Unable to move ourselves we decided to stay put a bit longer and to enjoy some more , the greek way , with a nice bottle of wine !

see you later !

Tequila Tequila Tequila...

Hello everybody,

We did have indeed a wonderful first day in Sofia. When we arrived in our hostel, we immediately checked the Internet to find some places to go out. It’s Friday so it’s time to celebrate! After some searching, we found the club Tequila. We first got our diner in the hostel and afterwards, we’ve changed our clothes. You can say we’re definitely ready to party. Eventually, at 11 o’clock we entered the club. We’re lucky because tonight there are 2 DJ’s playing in the club, DJ Doncho and DJ Bobcat. After having some drinks, we met a few locals. We can conclude that the Bulgarians people are extremely friendly and that’s why everybody was in a happy mood. At 5 a.m. we decided to go back to our hotel. But first, we need to put our sunglasses on because the morning sun is very heavy.
We booked 2 rooms in the hostel that’s called the Sofia Peace Hostel. It’s modern and has some bright colors as you can see on the picture. It’s located in the center, which was perfect after our night out. But now it’s time to go to sleep, because we have to get up early tomorrow.
I’ll hope you guys keep continuing reading our blog and how we all survive our adventures.

"Discover the sleeping beauty of the Balkans."

Today was our first day in Bulgaria. This time I’m leaving all the boring information about the travelling out of my post because the day itself was too interesting! We only had to cross one country to arrive at Bulgaria, so we had still the whole day to do something fun. We decided to do some adventurous activities.
In the forenoon we made a trip by motors. In Sofia, we had the opportunity to rent 4 motorcycles for 40€ per day, so we took the chance immediately! There were several routes, but we chose the route named “Discover the sleeping beauty of the Balkans”. This spectacular panoramic trip is really a life-altering experience! We could enjoy the scenic splendors of Bulgaria, called “the sleeping beauty of the Balkans”. All the routes of this trip were thoroughly selected to give us the best panoramic view from the Bulgarian nature like waterfalls, hidden old villages, green meadows and so on.
Around noon, we went to the centre of Sofia and there we found a small, but nice restaurant to have a quick meal. While we were eating, we didn’t want to search another activity for the afternoon. We decided to do another trip because we’ve rented the motorcycles for the whole day.
In the afternoon, we wanted to explore the city of Sofia by following the self-guided tours. These guides are especially designed for people who like to travel on their own, like we do! The routes and the instructions were very clear to us and we’ve seen a great part of Sofia which was really phenomenal! In the guide, there were also some tips for hotel arrangements, so when we had to bring back our motorcycles, we picked one of the cheap hotels from the guide.

Today it was the first time that we’ve rented a motor to get to know the country. It was an easy, but a very exciting way of travelling in and out the city. We all loved this day because we’ve seen a lot of nature and culture in only a few hours. It’s clear that girls don’t want to go shopping every day, because Stefanie and I had also an unforgettable day!
Are you still in the mood to hear our further exciting activities and experiences? Don’t hesitate to keep on following us, because we’re already half-way our trip!
xoxo

Next destination ? Balaton lake !

Hello everybody and welcome back !

After an amazing few days in Budapest it was time to leave the city , get moving and explore some more of the things Hungary has to offer . We decided to head to the Balaton lake area for 2 days before continuing our trip and setting of towards Bulgaria .

So we packed our bags this morning , jumped on the train and prepared ourselves for 2 days of outdoor action . We will arive at our destination , the zamardi adventure park in around an hour . This park offers all kinds of outdoor activities ranging from rope courses to sliding slopes and obstacle courses . Let's hope the weather stays as good as it is now and the rain stays away , wouldn't be fun getting soaked. I really hope the girls will like this activity to and won't be to scared so high up in the trees! Maybe i should buy myself some earplugs ?

Afterwards we're heading to the Balaton Tourist Camping . A spacy and calm camping just next to the lake . There we're going to set up our tents and recover from the exhausting day at the adventure park with a relaxed campfire and some beers .

The following day we're just going to relax a little bit more :  we can go for a swim in the Balaton lake ,  enjoy the Hungarian sun while leaning back in a chair , have ourselves a nice barbecue , .. Just a nice calm day at the lake without thinking about anything .We're all getting a bit exhausted from always walking around and visiting so many different places . This will definitely do us all - and our feet - some good .

Thanks for reading and stay tuned !

Megváltás !

The Grand City Tour!

Hello followers,
Here, everything is still going fine. We really have a great vacation with a lot of beautiful places. Today, we have done a Grand City Tour, so we almost have seen all the great things of this big city: Budapest. It was a tour of four hours. During the tour, we have visited the Castle District, the Matthias Church, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the citadel Gellert Hill, the Central Market Hall, the City Park, the Budapest Zoo, the Amusement Park, the Opera House, the St Stephen’s Basilica and the last thing we visited was the neo-gothic House of Parliament. The Tour finally ended in the city-center.
It was a great tour and it is obvious, Budapest is a beautiful city and the sights of the city are very attractive.
After this tour, we thought it would be nice to have some dinner for ending this beautiful day. So we visited a restaurant and have eaten some Hungarian food. It has a different character than our food because the food is rich with sour cream, onions, eggs, butter, fresh produce and wine. I didn’t found it as good as our food, but I think this is because we are not used to this food.
To end the day, we have gone to a pub and had some beers.
It was an interesting but a tiring day.

Greetings from Budapest!

Rollercoastertime!

Hello everyone!

Like Taike already said, we have a busy but pleasant afternoon. We decided that it was time for some action and pleasure. Where else can you find this together than in an amusement park. It’s called the Vidám Park and it has approximately 34 attractions. So you can conclude it’s worth visiting! It has 3 rollercoasters, but the Hullámvasút  is the attraction of the park. So we’ve chosen to do this one as a first. The other ones are the spinning coaster and a coaster for children. It seems obvious that we don’t do the last one. After the Hullámvasút, we were slightly nauseous. To come to rest and feel a little better, we went into a Ferris wheel. It was awesome because here we admired the beautiful view.

File:Hullámvasút 1.jpg Later on, we went into an haunted mansion, on a whitewater course, a free fall, and so on. Many attractions later, we’ve had enough of the park and we went back to our hotel by taking a cab. Although it was very cold, we definitely had some amusement in the park, because it was the first one we did on our trip around the world. The park was even better than the ones you always see in the movies!

It was 7 p.m. when we entered the restaurant. After having a delicious meal, we stayed in the hotel to have a cosy evening. It was necessary after our evening with the boys. By the way, there’s nothing better than have a drink with your mates and tell the best stories. Everyone needed a peaceful evening to be fitted for tomorrow. It’s the start of a wonderful new day in Hungary, already our fourth country of our trip. Time goes fast but everyone is enjoying extremely.
We still have some other countries we’re going through so if you want to know our stories,  you should definitely follow us!

See you next time followers!

McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and the Pizzahut!

Hello everybody!
Last night, Stefanie and I had to make a lot of efforts to bring the guys back to our hostel because they were having a great time with some of the local women. When we finally got back in our hostel, we had to pack our luggage immediately because we needed to go to the airport for our night flight.
During the flight, we all caught up some sleep. After a few hours of sleep, we arrived at our next destination, Hungary. In the airport of Budapest, we instantly booked a cheap hotel for a week.
Because we aren’t familiar with the city, we decided to call a taxi to bring us to our hotel. When we received our keys, we left our bags in the hotel and we started sightseeing the city. First of all, we needed to change our Euros to Hungarian forints. We found out that the Hungarian banking system is up to Western standards because there were a lot of Hungarian and international banks.
As we walked through the streets, we saw a lot of screaming, young people. They were the students of one of the ten universities of Budapest. We heard a hundred of languages, so we concluded that these universities teach a great deal of the students from abroad.
When we continued our walk, we decided to buy some chips and hamburgers in the McDonalds, because of our low budget. Nevertheless, it tasted delicious!
Now, we still have a busy program for the afternoon, so if you’re curious and interested to know our next experiences, keep following us on this page!

A great day at the National Park High Tatras!

Hello followers
Yesterday we agreed with the ladies to go shopping in the Eurovea Gallery. It was a day where we had to carry a lot of shopping bags for the girls. So Wouter and I decided that today was our day, so that we did what we wanted to do.
We went to the National Park High Tatras. This is situated in the north of Slowakia and these are the smallest alps of the world but nevertheless they are beautiful.  What we have seen there is almost impossible to believe. There are peaks touching to the sky, some beautiful mountain lakes, unique plants, waterfalls and rare animals. It was really great to see this. When you’re there, you can’t believe that there are so many cruel and ugly places in the world. So we took some pictures and we will never forget this place. I also decided that one day, I will come back to this place. Also I give you the advice to visit this certainly when you have the chance.
It was such a nice day!
The crew thought it would be nice to end this day with visiting a restaurant and ending in the pubs. There we could not believe our eyes: the pubs of Bratislava are full of pretty women.
After we had some drinks and some conversations with these women, we decided to go to the hotel because tomorrow is another day.

Greetings and stay tuned!

Shopping day!

Hellow folks,

As Taike already said, we went to Club 39 last night. Although we were exhausted because we got up so early, the night was a success! We bought a bottle of Slivovica in the club. Maybe the name doesn’t sound familiar, but you can compare it with a Vodka Red Bull. With a little bit of a hangover, we stood up and went to the breakfast table.

After having an enjoyable meal, we’re ready to see some culture and we decided to go to the Slavin. It’s a cemetery of soldiers of the Soviet Army who were killed during the Second World War. On the picture you can see the view from the Slavin Memorial. You can’t deny it has an amazing view!

Later that day, we determined our mind to go shopping in the most modern shopping center Eurovea Gallery. It’s very handy because they’re open till 21:00! In total there are 150 shops, which means you have a wide range of shops. And because two of the group members are girls, the thing we prefer the most is, yes you have it right, shopping! We’ve had the possibility to buy some jewelleries, electronics, footwear, food and so on. We’re lucky that the prices are low and so for us very attractive. A few hours and shopping bags later, we went back to our hotel because we were tired after our overwhelming night. A good night sleep would do us all good. In the hotel, we review our day and we conclude it was an extremely amusing day.

We hope you enjoy our adventures as much as we do, because we’re having the time of our lives!

See you next time!

Arriving in Bratislava.

Good morning readers!
This morning, we woke up at 6 am. We took a taxi to the airport of Warsaw and 2 hours later, we took a plane to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. As we arrived in Bratislava, the customs checked our passports and they asked if we were carrying forbidden objects.
We decided to leave our bags and cases in a secured room in the airport because we wanted to explore the capital immediately. In the airport, we saw that we could take a bus to the centre of Bratislava. We had to sit on the bus for 20 minutes because the centre was only 9 kilometres further.
Bratislava is the country’s largest city, so we realized that we couldn’t explore the city in only one day. Today we only searched for some nice things to do, some restaurants and, of course, a place to stay.
As we walked through the streets, we could see that the city can offer us numerous restaurants with international cuisine. We picked out a nice restaurant, specialised in local receipts. While we were eating, we were talking about the accommodation facilities. We decided to keep it simple. When we left the restaurant, we started looking for a youth hostel in the centre of Bratislava. We found a cheap hostel with clean and simple, but very cosy rooms. Here you can see a picture of our room.

We took the bus to the airport again to get our bags and then we took a taxi back to our hostel because we didn’t want to drag our cases on the bus. When we were in the hostel, we decided to go out. We wanted to meet the nightlife of Bratislava, so we agreed to have a drink in ‘Club 39’.
Good night everybody!

Our last day in Poland!

Hello dear followers,

Today,  we have a very busy schedule! We wake up at 8 am and get some breakfast in our hotel. It needs to be a good one, because we could use it. After the delicious breakfast, we start our last day. First of all, we’re going to visit Barbacane and later on the day the Planty park. Why Planty park? Well, it’s near the bastion and it's easy for us to find our way. .
I’ve put a picture on the blog to show you guys the bastion of Barbacane. It’s easier to imagine how beautiful Poland is. The bastion is an historical monument, because it is dated from 1350. Nowadays you can visit it because it is an historical museum. We enjoyed the visitation, but we’re looking forward to the Planty park. It’s a very pretty park and also one of the largest city parks in Poland. After a long but pleasant walk, we decided to go to a restaurant and enjoy our last meal in Poland. 2 hours and a delicious meal later, we went back to the hotel. We went to bed very early, because we need to be rested for our next stop, Slowakia. We enjoyed Poland a lot, but it’s time for us to move on. We’re looking forward to see Slowakia.

I hope you guys all enjoy reading our blog and keep on following us!

Poland: Another country? Another business?

Hello everybody!

To find the difference between our first country, we have also learned something more about the history, the business, the money, …  Here in Poland first of all they have the PLN. 1 euro is 4,19 PLN.
We informed ourselves about their economy. In the beginning, Poland had a centrally planned economy. But since 1989, with the fall of the communist government, Poland has been liberalising its economy and has completed the transition from a centrally planned economy to a capitalistic market economy.
In 2004, Poland became a member of the European Union. After this, Poland's economy grew fast, very fast, faster than its European neighbours.
Today, Poland is Europe's sixth-biggest economy and is considered to have one of the fastest growing economies in Central Europe. Poland has a hierarchical business culture and the managers are authoritative.
In Poland, there are three different types of business structures.
The ex-state monopoly enterprises, I don't think you need more information about these.
The second type of business structures are the foreign capital subsidiaries. These are international companies who have settled down some offices in Poland.
And the last type of business structures are the local start-up companies, these are new companies.
In Poland, the most people are working in the service sector, after that, the industry sector and the last one is the agriculture sector.

Now, Poland is also undergoing economic development, but the country still has several challenges ahead. The most important challenge is the preparation of their economy to meet the economic criteria for entry into the Eurozone.

Greetings from Poland!

The new part of Warsaw.

Dear followers,
Today we decided to discover the new part of Warsaw and to surrender to its unique atmosphere. We took the subway to go to the several places we had to see.
Most of the houses and buildings in the New Town are reconstructed because all of them were completely destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising. Today, the charming, beautiful, little streets are overloaded with restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars.
We have visited three reconstructured churches, namely the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Church of St. Casimir and the Church of the Visitation of Virgin Mary. Then, we all wanted something to eat, so we started looking for a nice restaurant. The restaurant we picked, was a typical Polish restaurant. We all picked a different menu. I have choosen for Rósol, a clear chicken soup, and Żeberka wędzone, some grilled ribs. When we were satisfied, we went on with our trip.
When we left the restaurant, we stood in the middle of the New Town Market Square. It is the main square of the Warsaw New Town. The square was establised before 1408 and it was orginally designed according to a medieval urban layout. As we were walking, we discovered that we weren’t the only tourists here! Everybody was taken pictures of the square and so did we!

Stefanie and I wanted to go shopping in the afternoon and the guys agreed, so we had to take advantage of that! While we were looking for some clothes and accessories, the guys were searching some souvenirs for their girlfriends in Belgium. The Polish clothing brands are well up to international levels, thanks to the help of young and creative Polish designers. We’ve had a pleasant afternoon but we became a little poorer… .
See you tomorrow!
